Less than half of Britain’s woodlands are managed sustainably so the way we manage our five acres is important to us. Our busy eco hives are occupied by native black bees – master pollinators for the local area. In collaboration with Working Woodlands Cornwall, we have also developed a management plan to ensure that all nature continues to thrive.

Pruning the canopy to let more light into the woods encourages faster growth and, therefore, carbon uptake of the trees. Thinning dominant species will protect the more vulnerable ones, further improving the habitat to increase biodiversity. This means we can return year after year to pick the leaves we need without harming vital ecosystems and do our bit to help Britain’s woodlands.
